Applications to live in residence for the 2013-14 Academic Year are now being accepted.
TEMPORARY RESIDENCE GUARANTEE!
Submit your Residence application and send us your Residence application fee ($50) and deposit ($400) by May 3, 2013, and your room is GUARANTEED. Instructions for paying your Residence fees are available at the end of the Residence application process or by visiting www.ukings.ca/fees-how.
INFORMATION FOR INCOMING FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS
After May 3, 2013, Residence is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Incoming first-year students who are concerned about residence placement should apply and pay the necessary residence fees as early as possible in order to secure a room. If you wait until the May 15, 2013 Admissions Deposit deadline to apply to residence and pay your Residence Deposit, you will only receive a residence placement if space is available at that time.
How will I receive notice about the status of my application?
Remember to set up your Dalhousie Net ID and email and check it frequently! Notification about the status of all residence applications and room placements is only made using the Dalhousie email system. Visit my.dal.ca and click on the New Users button to get started. We cannot guarantee that residence notifications will be sent to any other email address you provide to us.
INFORMATION FOR NON-KINGS, NSCAD STUDENTS
If you are a non-Kings or a non-Dalhousie student, please contact the residence office (residence@ukings.ca or 1.902.422.1271, ext. 215) and request a BANNER student ID number. Please provide us with your full name, home address and date of birth. This ID number is required in order for you to proceed with your application. Assignments for non-Kings and NSCAD students will be made after May 15, 2013.
RESIDENCE FEES AND WITHDRAWAL POLICY
The University does not offer single-term accommodation. Applications for rooms in residence are accepted on the understanding that the student will remain in residence throughout the academic year. Any student who wishes to leave residence during the academic year will be held responsible for his or her residence fees for the full academic year, or until a replacement, acceptable to the College, is found. It is the sole responsibility of the withdrawing student to find his or her replacement and to notify the Residence Office of any desire to leave residence.
Withdrawal granted on medical grounds must be substantiated by medical documentation within one calendar month after the date of withdrawal. An additional administrative fee of $175.00 will be levied in the case of early withdrawal from an assigned room. Students evicted from residence will forfeit all residence fees.
